(3 Products)Floor safety sign types
There are two types of safety signs that provide warnings and information. The first are foldable ones that stand on legs. These can be placed near potential issues such as spilled water or open grates that will be fixed at some point. Once the problem is handled, the office sign can be removed, folded up, and kept in a closet until needed. Adhesive floor signs are like giant stickers placed on floors for a more permanent warning. They are designed to stay in place even with heavy foot traffic and can be mopped clean just like the floor.
Adhesive floor sign message types
The messages written on the signs provide different levels of safety from informational to warning of extreme dangers. Different types of messages, in order of safety level, include:
- Informational safety instructions that might tell where an important area is located, such as first aid or fire extinguisher
- Caution messages that warn of potential hazards such as hidden steps, loud noise, and wet floor signs
- Warning or danger signs that have large, bold letters for extremely dangerous situations such as high voltage, hazardous chemicals, or flammable objects
Safety sign materials
Standing signs are usually made from thick, hard plastic that is lightweight and easy to clean with soap and water. Safety floor stickers are made from vinyl or thin plastics that don't tear easily and lays flat on the floor. Some are even laminated to help protect the lettering from heavy foot traffic.
OSHA standards
OSHA has recommended standards for safety signs to help protect employees and visitors. Color is one standard. For example, caution signs should be yellow with black lettering, while warning signs are red with black lettering. Anyone that sees the colors will recognize the severity of the potential danger. The font should be readable from at least 5 feet away so it can’t be missed.
