Sharp calculator ribbons have standard features
Different calculator ribbons are available in several configurations for the many types of machines available on the market. Sharp’s black-on-red ribbons are standard two-spool arrangements that operate in clockwise fashion under impact print heads containing raised alphanumeric and symbology characters. The heads print out various computational functions, including cost, sell, and margin calculations. Each spool of Sharp’s universal calculator ribbon has a sprocket and nib design that can easily be replaced in the chain or track drive underneath the print head.
Replacement ribbons for a variety of Sharp calculators
Various styles of printing calculators have different print mechanisms for computational output. Many of Sharp’s calculators are called C-wind machines, resembling the shape of Sharp’s two-spool black-asset and red-debit business replacement ribbon. The specific Sharp models that use the C-wind replacement ribbon include models in the SRS 300, 500, 600, 700, and 800 series, the CS 1000 and 2000 series, the VX 1600 and 3000 series, and the EL 1600 and 2600 series, including the EL-2196.
Sharp calculator ribbon replacements for other brand-name machines
Unlike ink and toner cartridges that are cross-compatible only with specific brand-name printers themselves, Sharp’s self-inking ribbon fits more than 100 other calculators from dozens of other brand names. The ribbon is cross-compatible with a multitude of machines from manufacturers that include the following:
- Burroughs
- Canon®
- CASIO®
- Hermes
- Monroe
- Texas Instruments
- Toshiba®
