Natural sweeteners as coffee provisions

A variety of coffee supplies are companions to brewed coffee. Natural sugar is one of the supplies that mixes directly with coffee to enhance its aromatic and varietal profile. The sweeteners come in different packaging, but the most convenient are coffee sugar packets and canisters. The packets are normally equivalent to 1 teaspoon. Many canisters, containing plastic lids with pour spouts, contain up to 20 ounces. Natural sweeteners also come in boxes, pound-sized bags, and cubes.

Natural sweeteners derived from natural products

Sweeteners from natural products come from sugarcane or the Stevia plant. Manufacturers process cane sugar by shredding the sugarcane, mixing it with water, and crushing the mixture between rollers. They then put it through a filtering and evaporating process, turning it into a mixture, and then spin the mixture in a centrifuge. The sugar that comes out is the natural sweetener known as turbinado sugar. This brown, molasses-based sugar can then be purified with minerals or chemicals and dried into white, granulated pure cane sugar.

Stevia, a natural sweetener

Stevia is a plant-based “sugar substitute,” although not an artificial sweeteners. The leaves are mixed with water, ground into a paste, and then dried into powder or filtered into liquid. Stevia can be 40 times sweeter than sugar, so makers dilute the leaf mixture with chemicals or alcohol during the refining process. Some manufacturers maintain the natural composition of Stevia by using purified water. Minimal processing yields Stevia into the raw product, like turbinado sugar. This form and the purified powder form come largely in sugar packets.

Sweeteners from leading producers

Offices use a variety of premier coffee-brewing systems for their break rooms, including pour-over, drip, cold brew, and the single-serve pods of Keurig® K-Cup® brewers. Coffee lovers have a wide choice of high-quality coffee varietals to complement the sophisticated brewing systems, and they expect the same quality from their sweeteners. Coffee sugar packets and canisters are available from trusted sweetener producers such as:

  • Domino®
  • N' Joy®
  • Café Delight®

Coffee sugar packets in cost-saving boxes and cartons

Supplies of single-serve packets of sweeteners make convenient storage companions for single-serve pods. Packets of sweeteners come in boxed packages containing anywhere from 100 to 2,000 packets. These cost-saving sizes also come in larger cartons of up to four boxes each, providing plenty of individual servings for the largest offices.
