How to choose the right seating
Whether you welcome lots of guests on a daily basis or just the occasional visitor, it's important to provide a welcoming environment—and a loveseat can help you offer guests a high level of comfort they won't find in most other offices. And where comfort is concerned, there are three factors to consider above all others: the upholstery, the padding, and the angle of the backrest.
The upholstery is not just an aesthetic choice: it has an implication for how long the seat will last—and just how much regular upkeep will be needed to keep it looking fresh. Leather or faux leather are often the easiest materials to clean, but they can also get quite sticky during the summer if your office doesn't have air conditioning. Other fabrics are likely to provide much better breathability, but will not be wipe-clean in the same way.
Padding is almost always basic foam, so your main concern is how much there is. If your guests are going to be around for a while—in a waiting room, for example—make sure the padding on the backrest is equal to the padding on the seats.
The last but perhaps most important item on the list is the angle of the backrest. The ideal angle depends mainly on what you want your guests to be doing. Do you want them to be able to relax during long waits? Choose a loveseat with a reclining back so they can really settle in. Do you want them to stay alert or maybe even get some work done as they sit? Pick one with a straight back and firm padding.
