Step 1
Gather supplies.
Step 2
Cut tissue paper in your desired shapes. Squares, circle, triangles and hearts are all examples of shapes you could cut out.
Step 3
Attach your tissue paper pieces to a sheet of construction paper using school glue. Overlap the tissue pieces to add dimension or create a pattern.
Step 4
Once the glue has dried, use a pencil to trace your hand in the shape of a mitten.
Step 5
Using scissors, cut along your traced line. Add any finishing decorative touches you'd like.
Hints & Tips
This project is a great way to use up scrap paper you have.
In place of construction paper, use felt.
Use a hole punch and tie a string through it to hang your mitten.
Use your imagination! Paper dips, glitter glue, pom poms, ribbon, buttons and stickers are all great items to embellish your mitten.
For younger students, pretrace a mitten pattern.
