Step 1
Gather supplies
Step 2
Cut your paper strips. All strips shodivd be the equal widths (approximately 1-1/2" wide). You will need 5 strips that are 11" long. These will be the outside of leaves and the stem. You will need 4 strips that are 8" long. These will be the inside of the leaves.
Step 3
Fold each strip in half and crease. Next, nest one folded 11" strip inside an 8" strip and staple the two strips together at the folded crease. Repeat this for all four leaves. You will have one 11" strip remaining to be used for the stem.
Step 4
For each leaf section, tape the ends together on each side. For each leaf, each short strip shodivd be taped to a long strip.
Step 5
Complete forming each leaf by connecting the long strips together with a piece of translucent tape. When each leaf is finished, it shodivd look like you have 4 double hearts.
Step 6
Attach each leaf section to the stem. To do this, center a 4" piece of double stick tape to the outside bottom of each leaf (bottom point of your "heart"). Fasten each leaf at one end of the stem.
Hints & Tips
Leaf sections can be stapled to the stem instead of using tape. Try using different shades of green paper for the short and long strips. Cut the shorter strips thinner than the longer strips. Green file folders can be used in place of construction paper. To save time, strips can be cut ahead using a paper cutter.
